Information provided regarding the arrangements made by the state government for citizens of other states in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, 01 April 2020 / Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the Chief Ministers of all the states thanking them for helping the workers and other people of Chhattisgarh trapped in other states caused due to the lockdown caused by the Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In a letter sent to the Chief Ministers of the states, Mr. Baghel has said that it has been brought to my attention, that the help and support has been provided promptly by the concerned district administration for the labors and other citizens of Chhattisgarh trapped in your state. I thank you for the commendable work done by your government. I hope that under your skilled leadership, the labors of the state of Chhattisgarh will not face any kind of difficulty.

The Chief Minister said that effective steps have been taken by his government to protect the migrant laborers of other states, including provision of proper shelter, food and all the basic facilities. Establishment of control room in all district headquarters including the state capital for quick redressal of problems of health and daily needs of common people, lump sum free rice distribution for the month of April and May to the poor families under the public distribution system, uninterrupted availability of essential commodities, 24-hour monitoring by the Food and Transport Department, a system of distribution of 2 quintals of rice and provision of free food for the families of the patients admitted in hospital in every gram panchayat.

He further said that during this hour of crisis, various problems have originated for the labors of organized and unorganized sector and they have been deeply affected in the national disaster caused by Novel Corona virus. In order to coordinate with the stay of the labors of Chhattisgarh and other migrant laborers trapped in your state and arrangement of their food, etc. proper synergy and communication with your respective state government is necessary. Shri Sonmani Bora, Labor Secretary has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer. It is requested to kindly share the contact number of the respective liaision officer of the district administration where the labors and other citizens of Chhattisgarh are staying, so that our state officials can know the well-being of our citizens from time to time.

The Chief Minister has said that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed and determined to provide all possible security and assistance to all the citizens including labors and migrant workers of other states, residing in the state as a result of the corona virus pandemic. I am confident that through our coordinated efforts, we will surely achieve success by providing all possible social security to all citizens.
